Riding in the new forest?

I've booked a short break on my own to the new forest and I rather fancy going for a ride while I'm there. Wondering what stables anyone would recommend? Id like to ride through the trees rather than heathland.

I'm a reasonably competent rider, although rusty as haven't ridden for a couple of years but used to ride quite regularly so 1-2hours will do.

I’d recommend Eastmoors riding school near Ringwood. It’s not directly in the New Forest however they trek directly into woodlands. Horses are well looked after, safe and the guides are friendly with no bitchiness whatsoever. They cater for all abilities. I live in the new forest and prior getting my own this was my favourite riding school/centre.

Arniss does great hacking. It's near Fordingbridge.

Most of the riding in the forest is going to be on open heathland rather than woodland as that's what the new forest is.

If you specifically want woodland hacking then you might need to go outside the forest.

Thank you both! I will take a look.

I second Eastmoors. Nice leaders and I have done 1.5 hours hacking too. Whenever I've ridden there the groups have been small too.

Arniss and Bagnum both great but it’s out on the heath which is fantastic in my view.
