Can anyone recommend a seat saver?

For context I ride weekly (a variety of school horses) and will start to do slightly more frequent and longer rides. My lower back gets a bit stiff and I have a sore coccyx. I was hoping a gel style seat saver would provide a bit of comfort, but it’s not a deal breaker.

I asked my instructor and she suggested I needed a full size one based on the horses I usually ride.

Any recommendations? Budget ideally £60 (which I know isn’t enough for the really good ones). Thanks

I had Acavallo seat savers on both my saddles. Think they were about £70 but this was 10-15 years ago so doubtless more expensive now.
Tried the Heather Moffatt one (am not sure if they are still about) but didn’t like it.

Definitely the Acavello. They do a gel out and a gel in version. The gel out provides a sticky seat - perfect for if you need some extra stickiness in the saddle - but the gel in is just as comfy

Thanks very much both. I think I will have a pay a bit more and get the Acavello (gel in for me).

It’s tricky as I ride different horses but I think maybe the medium one would be best as I don’t tend to ride the largest school horses.

Don't forget it's the saddle seat size rather than the horses size.

Most horses (rather than ponies/short backed cobs) are going to be in 17" or larger so that will be full size.

I've got a full size one & do sometimes use it on my 14hh Forester (16") and it still stays in place so definitely size up rather than down

They can mark the saddles but if it's the riding school themselves recommending you get it then must be okay.

thanks @Serencwtch - that really helpful. Although I’ve been riding for a long time I struggle to understand the tack side of things!

I am short, so sometimes ride the larger ponies, but then my back doesn’t bother me too much when I ride them. It tends to be the bigger horses that cause me problems
