Haynets, anything else to tie them onto.

Sick to death of bailing sting, my nets are so twisted together in the morning. Anybody use anything other than string? I'm conscious that what ever it's tied to needs to break away but not sure what!

In my experience baler twine is too strong to break in the event someone got their leg caught up in their haynet

So I gave up on that and tied directly to the ring - but I got it moved way higher so the haynet was higher when empty than it would previously have been. So I felt that was safer.

I use old leg strap clips attached to a bit of twine to tie up hay nets, the swivel clip stops the hay net from getting totally wound up and you don't need to untie a stuck knot.

I do them directly to the bars by the stable door. But I wrap it round amd then loop it through the string of the net before i tie it so its up high, too high to get a foot stuck in it.

I use haylage nets as the holes are too small to get a foot through. I don't like tying haynets high as it's not good for them to eat with their heads up. I only use haynets as I have a really greedy horse. Otherwise hay is best fed off the floor.

I feed it in an old water tank

I use a clip attached by a thinned out piece of twine to attach haynets when I use them. The thinned out piece of twine is more likely to break, and the clip swivels to stop it tangling. I only use haynets for one horse though, as he is a greedy pony who inhales all his hay by 9pm then kicks the door for the rest of the night, so I use a very small holed one for him to spread his eating time out. The others I just use a Nosebagz hay sling, which is much easier.
