Sarcoids.

I have a 16 year old piebald horse. I've noticed two tiny grey warts in separate places on the white parts of his body. Nothing where the tack goes. I'm presuming these are sarcoids? He's never had them before (had him since he was 5!). I will get the vet to check next month when he's due his vaccinations, but just wondered if any supplements etc help?

Sarcoids are skin cancer. Would you use supplements on skin cancer? Some things get rid of them on the surface but sarcoid usually have deep roots etc that arent visible .

Well, no. But I know there are supplements available and wondered if anyone had used them, or what the vet procedure was. I've been lucky enough not to have come across them before now.

Vet procedure now is usually lasering as this means you can get down to the root. Save your money on supplements and pay for lasering. It's the only way to ensure you get rid of them. Liverpool cream is sometimes still used but lasering is gold standard.

Great. Will do. I'm hoping as they are tiny then lasering might be successful

Our pony had a saroid removed by lasering and hasn't had any more since.
I have however heard of a supplement for them I think it's called Sarc ex. Have a read on horse and hound forum as I'm sure that's where I saw it mentioned.

Sarcoids can be caused by many things & there are different types. Most are essentially warts caused by a virus & are unpredictable - sometimes they just shrivel up & drop off with no treatment (like a human wart) as a result there are a myriad of old- wives tales, supplements etc because sometimes coincidentally one will randomly drop off after being blessed by a goddess (or an expensive supplement)
Only a vet can find out what type of sarcoid it is - a simple wart or a form of cancer. There are no 'supplements' that will cure them.
Treatment can be banding or laser or surgery or sometimes watch & wait if it isn't causing any problems.

I had a horse with a nasty sarcoid on his belly. It was summer so the vet didn't want to remove it until the flies died down in the winter. I gave him a teaspoon of turmeric dissolved in oil with a couple of turns of fresh pepper in each feed and within 5 months it had withered and dropped off.
