First time horse owner here.
Our horse had vaccinations started last year and was vaccinated on 02/11/22, 02/12/22 and 28/04/23.
Ive just called the vet to book her booster which is happening tomorrow, but they said to me that as it’s gone over the year, even by a couple of days that we will have to restart the whole course.
Is this correct by everyone else’s experience?
Thank you 🙂

Correct. Nothing you can do about it, unfortunately. It happens all the time, most vets will message you in advance, but some don't. It's 100% worth putting a note into your calendar to book in.
Unless you never need to prove your horse's vac. status but you will for many things from pony club camp upwards.

It a complete scam by medical companies IMO to restart after days out, all money making (not antivax but loosing immunity doesnt have a bloody calendar) so you'll likely need a second a few weeks later

It depends what you want to do. If you're a happy hacker it won't matter. If you're going to compete at a level where passports are checked (can even be pony/riding club level) it will need to be re-started.

Yes, unfortunately you will have to have the full course again if you anticipate taking the horse out to any sort of event in the next few years. If you are not intending to go anywhere, it will probably not be a problem. I was hoping to borrow a horse for a certain competition once, and we discovered that the horse had been vaccinated about 3 days late once about 6 years before. It was not allowed to enter. The governing body was sympathetic, and reckoned the horse was almost certainly well covered for immunity, but unfortunately it has to be black and white - vaccinated before X date, horse covered. After X date, horse not covered.
