Wellies!

I'm looking for recommendations for wellies for my daughter please. She doesn't ride often but is doing stable management and needs wellies. Preferably warm ones if such a thing exists as she gets very cold feet. Thank you.

Aigle parcours ISO are the best but don't think they do kids sizes. The ISO are the thermal version

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 10/10/2023 18:24

Thank you. She takes an adult size 4.
She love Lemieux in general but isn't familiar with other brands. I'll have a look at the ones you said. My budget is tight but her taste is expensive 😩.

Avoid Barbour/Hunters etc as they are frankly crap. Aigle are the best IMO. I would avoid Le Mieux wellies if they even do them which I'm not sure they do.

Another vote for Aigle parcours - the most comfortable wellies I’ve ever had. I have the ones without neoprene and add or subtract socks depending on the temperature but DH has the neoprene lined ones and loves them too

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 10/10/2023 19:25

Oh my they are very expensive! Completely out of my budget sadly.

@twistyizzy Lemieux do do wellies. She's very into the matching Lemieux sets and I know she'd love their wellies but why would you avoid?

@JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots quality won't be good for the price. Aigle are expensive initially but are an investment and last for years. I would be amazed if Le Mieux lasted 2 winters. Wellies get abused on yards and my Aigle get worn 300 days a year.

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 10/10/2023 20:31

She's 14 and I'm not sure if she will grow much more now but it's a risk to assume she won't. Sadly I can't afford an investment for wellies.

Going against the grain here, but after my first pair of Aigle's lasted 5 years I got another but ended up with having to replace them twice under warranty. And sods law they went for good within days of the warranty expiring. They're not the quality of years before, like many things these days.

Muck Boots are very durable and have good enough soles to wear them all day.

Jorvik1978 · 10/10/2023 20:44

Le Chameau neoprene lined wellies are fantastic. They are expensive, but mine are now on their 8th winter and show no signs of wearing out any time soon (that'll be the kiss of death now...)

PebblyPig · 10/10/2023 23:30

Best ones I've had in last few years are from Decathlon. Had Aigles and Ariats only lasted a year before the seams split.

Express0 · 10/10/2023 23:38

Muckboots. Wellies are freezing cold

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 11/10/2023 07:51

She's only on them about an hour a week on average. Something over £100 isn't feasible. If she was wearing them daily then I can see the point of spending more but not for a teenager who might still grow and is only wearing them an hour a week.
The Lemieux ones are neoprene lined. Are the ones from decathlon lined too?

PebblyPig · 11/10/2023 09:56

The Decathlon ones I have are neoprene lined and were about £80 but that was about 18months ago so not sure what types they have now.
If she's only wearing them an hour a week I wouldn't worry too much about them wearing out. I guess most of the people answering here wear them multiple hours a day.
But definitely avoid basic range Hunter/Barbour/rubber types as they are cold and split easily.

liveforsummer · 17/10/2023 08:29

I'd just get her the le mieux if it's only an hour a week. They are not going to wear out anytime soon with that level of use and she'll be delighted with them I'm sure

Bluewhiteflower · 17/10/2023 19:04

I have Le Chameau neoprene ones and they are the warmest most comfortable pair I’ve ever owned. I got mine off marketplace for a fraction of the cost.

Autumn1990 · 17/10/2023 19:09

I like rockfish wellies and whilst the list price is quite high you can get them discounted. Not sure if they do lined ones as I like unlined wellies. I pretty much live in wellies and they last about a year
Joules neoprene wellies are warm. I don’t find joules wellies last as long I’m lucky if I get 6 months out of them but if she’s only wearing them for an hour a week they should be fine. My mother often buys joules wellies and she wears them for an hour or so a day and her last a couple of years.

Biddie191 · 20/10/2023 07:11

I picked up some fleece lined ones in Lidl last week, £12.99, warm and comfortable. Don't look too bad, and if they only last the winter, I'll still be happy.
