We are looking to put my daughters horse on part or full loan, we have a contract ready but have no idea on how much to charge. Stables, full use of amenities / arena, Worcestershire based. any advice please. Thanks

Depends on the horse but I think £10-15 a day is standard unless the horse and facilities are exceptional.

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 31/08/2023 11:43

Should add I charge £10 a day, 2 schools, one nicer than the other, minimal jobs (just ask them to do a haynet and make her evening feed for the YO to Chuck in). Nice horse, responsive and a lovely attitude but not a novice ride. If you haven’t advertised yet… get ready for the onslaught of idiots…

We started with a two day share when my daughter outgrew the riding school - that cost £100 a month plus half the cost of his shoes. Then we took him on full loan so we took on his livery cost plus insurance/farrier etc etc

Bichonmum · 31/08/2023 15:57

I currently pay £50 per month for 3/4 days per week, and half towards shoes.

I also pay extra towards hay and someone to turn out in winter.

Bichonmum Wow, I assume not stabled? then no pay for bedding, feed, contribute towards vaccination's??? Do you have to poo pick??

She is stabled over the winter. I have bought bedding for the last winter because we use wood pellets and buy in bulk but that cost is off set by not paying towards hay / being turned out over winter. We don't poo pick as it's a bit field with a mixed herd.

She is on tablets so I pay half towards them but I volunteer to do that and it's not expected.

My daughter had a part loan from the same person and she pays the same as me.

Bichonmum · 31/08/2023 19:56

Sorry meant to add, they don't have hard feed so no need to pay for that and the vaccinations / worming / worm count are all covered through an insurance plan that the owner pays for.

eastiseastwestiswest · 31/08/2023 21:54

I pay £100 a month for as much riding as I want (generally only manage 2 or 3 days max) plus at least one day of doing all the jobs (normally end up doing 2-3). She's on DIY so I do everything including poo picking when it's our turn.

Flamingomumma · 02/09/2023 20:41

I paid £25 a week for a part share (south west). 3 days a week. It was DIY and I had to do all jobs on the day I went.

Minibea · 29/09/2023 14:31

I pay £100 a month for two days riding and jobs a week - she’s on DIY so on my days I do everything and if I want/need the yard to bring her in then I pay for that too at £6 per pop. It works well and is cheaper than 1 riding lesson per week. She’s currently out of action though so not sure how much longer I’m willing to pay for the privilege of looking after someone else’s horse 😬

Croissantsandpistachio · 28/10/2023 21:54

I pay 12-15 a day depending on how many days I do. Edge of London. Good hacking and a school but not fancy. No formal requirements to do jobs but I'll skip out and tidy beds, sort rugs etc if I'm there anyway. He's barefoot though so no shoe expense!

XelaM · 29/10/2023 00:21

£25 per day is the going rate at my daughter's yard

Postapocalypticcowgirl · 31/10/2023 22:21

I think £10-20 a day depending on horse and chores required. For £20 a day, most people would expect at least one weekend day. If full/part livery and no jobs at all needed then potentially people will pay more.

For a loan, most people take on the full costs of the horse, with the exception of maybe paying insurance (especially as it can cause issues if this is in the loaner's name).

Raisinsandweetabix · 31/10/2023 22:30

£25 per week, for 3 days. Including all jobs (except morning turn out) aswell as ad hoc jobs for owners other horse. This works extremely well for us but we are prepared to do everything to a high standard and at the wishes of the owner. Most would charge more with the increase of cost of everything these days
