Saddle advice

I'm trying to pick up a second hand saddle for a short term loan horse. She's a thoroughbred, 15.1 and well built. I'm not looking to spend loads as it's short term so looking at an adjustable wintec. Can anyone advise likely starting point for saddle length and that colour gullet to use? I reckon she'll be about 6 inch in the pommel. Thanks

Seconding the idea of asking the owner for the saddle. If it’s a short term loan most owners should prefer that you use the horse’s own correctly fitted saddle.

The saddle also needs to be suitable for the rider and the riding style.

I’m not anti-second hand saddles at all, but you can look online for guides to the basic measurements and ask a saddle fitter to bring out some used options to try.

Your horsey friends should also be able to help with the basic measurements, even possibly a loan saddle for a fitter to try.

Also remember a good saddle pad, as even if the shoe fits it’s much more comfortable with a sock.
