Filled back legs

Dhorse has started to develop filled ankles on his hinds after being stabled. He's a bit uncomfortable/stiff being led out of the stable then absolutely fine after 10 minutes or so. I can't spot any mud fever lesions although he is prone to it. He has to come in at night otherwise he fusses 🙄 and the fields are too wet and slippery for a big horse on a mission. Any advice?

Feedmark sell a product called NoFill specifically for this. You could also use stable bandages with pads overnight to stop the fluid build up

Thanks - never sure about bandages as that fluid has to go somewhere. Will check out the supplement!

Is he getting any turnout?

One of my horses was prone to filled legs when she had mud fever. Like you say you can't see any signs, however I would be tempted to treat for this anyway, as I was caught out by this once or twice. I couldn't see any signs either, but it was there. I missed it as it was dark and it was not very obvious.

He has mud fever! Finally spotted it yesterday after a bath. Slapped on flamazine and moved his hay rack to a less muddy place. Will bring in at night

Marigold and clivers helped my mare.

I was going to say probably missed some mud fever but my 20yr old also gets puffy fetlocks if stabled for too long. Movement as much as possible plus stable bandages (obviously with padding underneath) when stood in.
