What would you expect to pay for a half share of a schoolmaster? No need to do any of the chores apart from bringing in, tacking up etc. Able to ride 3/4 days per week and take out to shows/lessons etc. We have a floodlight arena and can hack to local forestry but do have to do a bit of roadwork or box.
Just looking for ideas of what to charge as it is a long time since I borrowed anyones horse.

I would expect 10/15 per day, so if 3 days a week £45ish

I would agree that for 3/4 days you are looking at £45/50 if there are no chores .

Whereabouts are you? I think without chores you could charge up to £20 a day dependent on area.

I paid £110 a month and ended up having sole use, as many days as I wanted

I pay £40 per week for 3 days. Mucking out, haynets etc to do as well as riding.

Going rate for us (Northeast) is £10 per day. DIY yard, so all stable jobs to do. Most of the part-loaned horses are young/old/quirky, so limited use.

I would think if no stable jobs to do then £15 per day would be very reasonable, and possibly up to £20 for a really good horse that is ready to go, rather than a project.

My sharer pays £150 per month and doesn’t pay for anything else like shoes or feed etc, but I could charge more, as that’s not even half the cost of his livery.
Base the cost on what you pay, and start with a little bit more, you can always negotiate price down if you find nobody can afford that price, but others will see it as fair to have a schoolmaster with a floodlit school and great hacking. Unfortunately most people want to pay next to nothing, but when the majority of lessons are upwards of £30 it’s not unreasonable to expect more for a good amount of access to a horse.
