Hi, does anybody use hoof boots. I have a retired Tb that is now barefoot.
Shes doing well but its quite a long stoney walk from the field to the yard and I was thinking about getting a pair to stick on when she comes up to the yard or when the ground us really hard.
Shes mainly living out and will do all winter so I was hoping not to spend a fortune.
Does anybody have any experience using these or any advise x

I use scoot boots on my cob, I've tried others but they are the easiest to go on and don't come off, even in thick mud.

Quite a lot of barefoot trimmers have fit kits and are reps of them around us, so might be worth asking around where you are.
They can be worn out, and some people use them to poultice as well, when abcesses rear their ugly heads.

We used scoot boots too on DD's pony, transitioning him to barefoot. They did the job very well but wish I'd got them fitted properly, I had to get three pairs before the correct ones!

We don't as pony doesn't do much on hard surfaces, but our friend at the yard does a lot of hard surface hacking and loves hers and her horse does very well in them. She has also had a mither with fit though, and I think has gone through a few pairs before getting the right ones. We are considering some for our pony this winter as we want to do a bit more trail riding and that can be very mixed surface. Don't know how on earth we will get her measured as she's a fidgety drama queen on the ground about her feet, dancing and prancing around.

I had hoof boots for my now retired TB who went barefoot when he became semi-retired. I used Easy Boot Trail as I needed something easy to get on and off, and also something that wouldn't rub. They fitted his foot shape really well. I also got a pair of very basic Cavallos (the entry level ones) off EBay for another pony who can be a bit footie sometimes. Because I had measured the other one for boots that came up a good fit I felt confident enough to measure the second one correctly and find some second hand ones so wasn't having to spend a fortune.

The Cavallos wouldn't have been my first choice if I'm honest as they rub without some kind of insert (I used some old wool socks!) but they did the job well enough. Absolutely love the Easy Boots for my other lad but not every boot suits every hoof shape.

Just to add - if you are not going to go down the faff and expense of using a fitting kit from an online company but instead try to source some second hand ones, e.g. off Ebay, you will need to be really accurate with your measurements, but there is a lot of really helpful online advice and Youtube videos about measuring feet correctly.

Scoot boots on all 3 of mine. Absolutely brilliant and last forever.
