Poor horse has a injury which means box rest for at least another month, he is bored even with treat ball & hidden treats.. He has started chewing the stables... currently trialing crib-box .. have mustard & vinegar on hand it that doesn't work.. does anyone have any fail proof ideas please. They are New stables :(

Is he getting enough forage? Literally ad lib? That persistent cribbing combined with box rest screams ulcers to me

A mirror.

Treat balls

Swede strung up (mind you don’t get hit in the face)

Those hanging licki things.

Grannick's Bitter Apple Chew Deterrent (meant for dogs, but it's worked for my horses in the past)?
Try hanging a small mesh/slow-feeder haynet from the ceiling to make him spend more time on eating hay?
Some horses like a mirror for distraction.

Thank you, He's not cribbing just chewing, has enough hay to feed 16.. had treat ball, salt lick, lick its, parsnip & carrot kebabs hanging, hidden treats in hay. Swede hanging .. have got Mustard powder today apparently mixed with vinegar & hot water that can work... may wake up to a horse on a pad with a door but nothing else Hmm

Another vote for the dog chewing deterrent, I can't remember which brand I used. Worked when nothing else would.
Depending on how clean/ picky/ type of bedding try spreading the hay round the bed a bit. Gives them something to do foraging around.
Chop nettles if you can find some and leave to dry out then put a pile on the floor.
Depending on the horse and yard set up, a companion to groom over the door for a while.
Valerian. Obviously won't cure boredom but great for stress and/or taking the edge off. Of course check with your vet if you or he aren't familiar with it.
