Travel boots

For the pony that hates travel boots. 13.2 so awkwardly between cob and pony size.
Any recommendations? I'm sick of googling!
FamilyStrifeIsHard2Bear · 09/12/2021 23:36
Do they catch themselves in the lorry / trailer? If not - no need for boots
lastqueenofscotland · 10/12/2021 10:05
I only boot if they need them, and as much as it’s a fuss if nothing fits I’d bandage.
Polkadotties · 10/12/2021 15:18
If he hates wearing travel boots don’t use them. If you really want to boot up use brushing and overreach boots.
HappyGirlNow · 10/12/2021 19:35
Ours hate the big stuff ones so I replaced them with these, they’re v soft..
HappyGirlNow · 10/12/2021 19:36
Or yes, otherwise bandages, but these are quicker/easier..
BertramLacey · 10/12/2021 21:00
I stopped using travel boots ages ago as they seem to wind horses up and I'm not convinced that they offer protection if something really bad is about to happen. However, if I wanted to put something on, as pp have said I would bandage or use brushing boots. Maybe even mud fever boots.
Sprig1 · 10/12/2021 21:02
No boots. Or if you really must the just brushing boots and over reach boots.
LilyandBilly · 10/12/2021 21:03
Three are some good stable boots out there with an inner liner and tougher outer shell, so offer protection but not flapping over the knee /hocks if they don’t like that. I have some PE ones I use for stabling in winter and they are great. Veredus do some more expensive and tougher looking ones too
RatherBeRiding · 13/12/2021 12:56
I have some travel wraps that are nowhere near as restrictive as the big over-knee and hock boots but still offer some protection. Or else with my very good travellers I tend to just use jumping boots.
Or else get some bandages and liners/gamgee - very time consuming though.
HighlandCowbag · 18/12/2021 14:56
Ive stopped booting up to travel, found they caused more fidgeting and stressing than going naked. A piece of fabric isn't going to do much in the event of the shit hitting the fan anyway. Am not a fan of boots in general tho, very rarely use anything.
ThePlumVan · 20/12/2021 21:26
I agree with PP. I stopped using travel boots as they make them so hot and bothered.
I just put tendon and fetlock boots on ready for when we get there.

DD's pony HATES the beautiful travel boots I bought just after we got her. If we put them on, she will contort herself crossing her legs trying to push them off....she looks rather cartoon like (emotional Welsh C who wears heart on sleeve!)! So I used them the first time out and have never bothered since. She travels well and has been completely fine. I just feel neglectful leaving showgrounds when everybody has their horses in beautiful travelling gear and pony gets loaded with nothing!
She's not a fan of other boots either but as she works in those she tends to forget about them once she gets going.

Mine hated boots so I used to bandage but then I found these:
