Best grooming kit?

DDs grooming kit is old and a bit crap so I’m going to get her some new brushes for Christmas. What are the best brands? Obviously all the kids want Lemieux, but I don’t know whether there are better quality brushes out there?

Also, she wants a hard case grooming box (preferably one she can use to stand on). I bought her one last year and it was crap (can’t remember what make it was). Any suggestions for a good box?

Liestner Schimmel are the best I’ve had (potentially fucked the spelling there)
Re tack boxes I’ve found the tool boxes that are the same shape much better/hard wearing and much cheaper!

Dd uses Haas brushes - they’re quite pricey but they give an amazing shine.

While I’d agree with lastqueen that a hard shell tool box would be better value, that’s not really the top of young teens’ list of must-have attributes… personally if she wants a Le Mieux hard shell grooming box, anything else would be a bit of a disappointment (as long as it’s within your budget of course). If she carries on riding , you’ll probably find she grows out of the needing to have the brand everyone else at the yard has phase fairly soon!

Thank you! I’ll take a look at those suggestions.

@Pleasedontdothat She’s been riding 5 years and has a share pony, but no signs of her moving away from Lemieux and Aztec diamond. Hmm . It seems mad to get her yet another saddle pad/silk/etc matching set, but it’s what she wants.

How old is she @historyrocks? Fitting in is so important to younger teens - it’s something that tends to make adults roll their eyes, but I remember how desperately I wanted certain things when I was 12/13 and how disappointing it was to get the ‘sensible’ or budget version.

My dd was similar but now she’s 18 and has sold all her matchy stuff and only buys what she needs. She’s on an apprentice wage so is trying to stick to a very strict budget!

@Pleasedontdothat—she’s 14. Yes, I’ve found that’s true. She’s desperate for a horse of her own, but we don’t have the finances for that right now so she has a riding school horse on part share. It means she doesn’t actually need any of the gear she has, but it means a lot to her that she can think of it as ‘her’ horse. I don’t really mind buying the stuff. I’ve ridden since I was a child so I do understand (DH less so!)

These are lovely to use smartgrooming.com/collections/borstiq

As I told the grandparents when I shared the DDs Christmas lists with them (matchy sets, competition bags etc) at least it’s stuff that has a purpose & they want - or even need - not just tat for the sake of it. Matchy matchy seems a bit pointless to me but it makes them happy! Anyway, off topic Grin
