For DD (8) who can walk trot confidentially but new to cantering. She’s been riding independently for a few weeks and is keen to progress. I would like her to improve without spending a fortune, if possible (!) and pony club has been suggested as the answer. She doesn’t have her own pony...

As she doesn’t have her own pony then you’re definitely looking at pony club centre membership. We’re the Surrey side rather than Kent so I’m not so familiar with the centres around there but they’re all part of the same Pony Club area (11) and dd’s definitely competed against riders from Mount Mascal in Bexley - it seems to be one of the bigger, more active PC centres so if you’re near there would be worth a look

Great thanks will check it out. Just googled and saw some negative reviews though which annoying. Anyone on here have any experience?

How about Squirrels in Maidstone? Is that too far? They are good and have great reviews. My daughter has ridden there but not as part of PC which I think they might be.
Or 4 gaits although they are now much further into Kent.
Mascals has a mixed review as it is so huge and quite impersonal. My daughter has done club there and loved it but I wouldn’t say it is brilliant.

Southborough Stables in Bromley? We haven't been there (not living in the UK at the moment) but it has been recommended by a couple of friends for when we move back. DDs a similar age. I think it's smaller but might be a bit closer if you're that way.

My daughter rides in Trent Park, but that's probably too gar for you. They are a huge school and take Pony Club very seriously. From the age of 11 your daughter can volunteer there if she also foes Pony Club

Just to add, Pony Club is a whole community and an amazing way to make friends with horsey girls and boys. My daughter's best friend is from Pony Club rather than from school. Once your kid is older it's also an amazing childcare facility as you drop them off and let them spend hours there with the horses and friends. Pick in the evening Grin
