As above.
How far into your pregnancy did you continue to ride?
I’m currently 16 weeks, I’ve stopped jumping but want to continue to hack for as long as possible.

I hacked till some prat slammed a car door in front of my unflappably cob and he flapped. Then just schooled up to 7 months when I suddenly felt uncomfortable dismounting.
When I got pregnant again I didn’t ride at all, with a little one at home it felt too risky.
It’s mostly about how you feel, everyone will give different answers.

I'm 33 weeks and still doing very light schooling in walk and trot and plodding round the woods around 3 times a week, although I'm now avoiding coming down steep hills 😂 even a short one feels like the Derby bank with a big bump! I have a very safe horse though. If she was even a little flighty I think I would have stopped when I started to get a bump - baby is pretty well protected in your pelvis until then. I think it's really about how safe you feel and whether you can get on and off comfortably. I'll stop when either of those things become a problem.

Until I was about eight months gone with my first but I didn't hack once I had a significant bump, a friend hacked her for me and I schooled. My lovely mare at the time (now over the rainbow bridge) absolutely refused to jump while I was pregnant. I had SPD with my second so walking was an achievement, and riding was out of the question.

After I got the positive on the test. Continued to teach until went in for birth.

Riding is not my career.
Having had miscarriages and being 38 at first child the risk simply wasn’t worth it for me. I wanted to protect my unborn child more than I wanted to ride my horses 🤷‍♀️

20 weeks, I had a small bleed and had to go in for monitoring. It turned out I had an irritated cervix from
My mares big trot. I couldn’t face going in for 8hrs again so stopped riding then. But was still mucking out on my due date.
If I hadn’t had the bleed I’d have kept going longer but weirdly didn’t mind stopping either.

My wife rode until around 8months, but sent her main competition horse to working livery at 7months.

Gave birth 2 weeks later (8.5months), then started riding 3 weeks later.

Competed again 3 weeks after that.

Currently 35 weeks pregnant. I rode until I was 24 weeks ish. Then bump got too big and I struggled to get off, that for me was the nudge I needed as I was worried that if I needed to get off in a hurry I couldn’t!

There really is not an answer to this. A friend of mine rode a flat race when 12w pregnant. Another one never sat on a horse once till she gave birth. I rode on the delivery day and then a few days afterwards with both children.

It depends on your abilities, health, horse, fitness level, pregnancy complications, husband's wishes... so many variables.

I'd say if all goes well without complications a competent fit rider can ride all the way. I stopped jumping at 7m though.
