New pony day!

I feel like a little kid this morning. Going to pick up new pony who is what I've been searching for for about six years. Six Yr old, bay roan, connemara mare. Amazing breeding, lovely personality and can't wait to get her home. Timing is insane...I'm 18wks pregnant and have a foal due mid May but decent connies at a reasonable price are like unicorn poo so I'm having her 😀. She may have to stand in the field for 6 months but she's quite unsettled from being at two dealers since she came from Ireland so I think having time to chill will be good in the long run.

Anyone else got exciting horsey news? Or are you all horrified at the chaos I've inflicted on myself 😂

Haha good for you !

And just as all the shops are opening too Grin

ChelseaCat · 11/04/2021 09:39

Congrats OP - what an exciting day for you! Any chance of a pic when she’s arrived?! Grin

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 11/04/2021 09:40

Not immediate horsey news but my weight loss is progressing well and 2021 is hopefully the year I'll be back in the saddle after 25 years!

TooManyAnimals94 · 11/04/2021 10:07

There will be pics, watch this space. @ithoughtisawapuddycat well done you! Hopefully a long summer of riding is ahead for you.

How exciting!

I'm hopefully getting a new saddle next week- not quite as exciting as whole new pony, though!

TooManyAnimals94 · 11/04/2021 13:09

She's here 😄

Wow she is absolutely stunning! She reminds me of a horse I used to ride in Mongolia, I love a roan ❤️

cookielove · 11/04/2021 13:18

😍😍

LaPufalina · 11/04/2021 16:10

Ahh I have goosebumps for you OP! What a little cracker Smile

ChelseaCat · 11/04/2021 18:57

Ooohhh she looks fab! Very special! I can totally see why you couldn’t resist. How is she settling in?

thenonsensepotter · 11/04/2021 18:59

She's beautiful!

Floralnomad · 11/04/2021 19:01

That is indeed a very beautiful animal, congratulations @TooManyAnimals94

percheron67 · 11/04/2021 19:11

She looks stunning! I think it will be good for soul to relax and get to know you quietly. So pleased you have her - I despair at the plight of some equines in this (and many) other countries. Good Luck and a stroke from me, please! My user name probably gives a clue to me feelings!

percheron67 · 11/04/2021 19:12

My feelings! Flaming keyboard!!

TooManyAnimals94 · 11/04/2021 19:16

Thanks for all the lovely responses 🙂 she's settled really well. Not very impressed about being turned out with the shetlands but my other Connie can be such a bully I thought I'd let her get established before she goes out with the 'proper' ponies. Brought her in and gave her a groom and a fuss, she was easy to catch and has lovely manners. Doesn't know what carrots are yet 😂 going to do the same with her tomorrow and maybe take her for a walk down the lane, and try a saddle on her that I think might fit. Don't want to ride until I've got her shoes sorted...they're nearly worn through. Think she must have been due when I said I'd buy her.

Awww yay she is beautiful, OP!
I’m bringing my horse back into work this week, slowly after having a year off due to me being pregnant and having a new tiny baby. She’s been on 24/7 turn out though so she’s been loving life with her mates, will be a bit of a shock for her having a job again lol!

CheshireDing · 11/04/2021 19:22

She’s beautiful OP. Enjoy

TooManyAnimals94 · 11/04/2021 19:25

@percheron67 I don't think things had got that bad for her but they were heading that way. She's very sharp and was bought unseen for a novice 13 Yr old by her non horsey dad. They got an instructor involved who managed to fall off her and frighten her and then she went to a show jumper I assume realised she wasn't ready for proper work and then she ended up with a (honest thank god!) dealer who was very cautious about who she let try her. I know the lady from years ago so she was happy to let me try her and I fell in love a bit. Not quite a pity buy but I wonder what would have happened when the owner got sick of paying sales livery.

She has a lovely face. I would go right back to basics and take her out for walks like you would a dog to let her get to know you and her surroundings. I do this with all our unbroken ones and newbies and it is wonderful the bond you can develop just by being on the ground Smile

TooManyAnimals94 · 11/04/2021 20:16

@Newstaronhorizon that's the plan 🙂 will try and get her long reining as well...she really needs to learn to stretch, chill and accept a soft contact.
