Buying winter jodhpurs

I need to buy some jodhpurs (or good alternatives!) for my 12 year old DD, but I'm finding the options overwhelming.
She mostly helps out in the yard and fields, but has just started riding a little each visit so it was suggested that she might be more comfortable in riding wear as she progresses. She currently wears old jeans and waterproofs if needed.
The problem is she's aware she's still growing....one month a little bit of puppy fat, the next all curves and is worried about how tight fitting they seem.
I'm thinking full seat to give her coverage and confidence, and waterproof/ thermal?
Or is there a lovely cheap option that covers all bases?
Feel like I'm really overthinking thus and being neurotic Confused

I think possibly yes you are overthinking this, no harm done though Grin. As she's only just beginning and also is still growing, I'd get her a couple of cheap pairs of jods or riding tights (more like leggings) from decathlon or similar. Riding tights are more flattering than jods I think, and black or a dark cover probably better than white/cream or another pale colour both for not immediately looking filthy and also for hiding any lumps/bumps, although honestly no-one is going to be judging or looking negatively at a 12 year old's figure on a yard, no-one looks their best in mud splattered waterproofs, horse slobber down your front and 6 layers of jumpers on anyway!

I wouldn't worry too much re thermal/waterproof jods, I think she'll find those too hot/sweaty to ride in (remember you have the heat from the horse as well as coming off your own body, and riding is quite hard work so she will get warm and sweaty), if she complains of getting cold or wet while on the yard you could get her some waterproof over-trousers, or thermals to wear under her jods (don't have to be horsey specific brands) but all the horsey kids I know stay plenty warm enough running around doing jobs larking around even in the depths of winter. A well cut waterproof and warm riding jacket (normal coats are too long to ride in, you end up sitting on them) or some riding boots and chaps would probably be a better investment?

I get jodhpurs off Amazon and use waterproof over trousers if necessary.

Get her some black (or other dark colour) fleece-lined riding tights - dd has some great ones from Toggi but there are loads around. They’re very comfy and have the bonus of drying quickly. For really foul days, she wears waterproof over trousers on top. My top tip is to get her some warm and waterproof boots as there’s nothing worse than losing feeling in your toes halfway through the day

Thank you all!
I'll look into those fleece lined riding tights @Pleasedontdothat they'll be perfect with her waterproofs
I've found some others for summer in a sale too, so bonus there Grin
Really appreciate everyone's help, have a good night xx

The decathlon kipwarm have a good reputation but I don't know if they do children sizes. Depending on your DDs size she might fit them.

My 11yo has these ladies ones in Xs which are nice and warm. She has long legs and fit fine.

Thank you so much! I'll take a look, and at decathlon too xx

Depending on what kind of boots she wears, I found half chaps great for warmth too. You lose a lot of heat out of your legs, and end up with cold toes.

Wellies made me feel cold, but with warm hiking style boots, a mid thigh length coat (driza—bone) and neoprene half chaps I was lovely and toasty. And I normally REALLY suffer in cold weather.

Second Decathlon riding wear. Cheap as chips but brilliant for around the yard and riding.

These are my daily go-to but I also have a cheaper pair with a phone pocket on the thigh which are also fab.

Have a look at sports direct, I get most of my jodphurs from there are they are around £12-20!
