Sacroiliac issues and riding

Anyone manage to get back to regular riding following SI problems? Mine started halfway through my pregnancy and DD is now 18 months and I still have to take ibuprofen three times a day! I've been seeing an osteopath, doing Pilates, wearing SI belt and refrained from riding for the last 9 months. Attempted to start riding last week (osteopath ok'd!) and first time was okish but second time I started to get the dreaded shooting/catching pain in my groin which is very difficult to ride with!
I kind of wonder if I should be trying to ride at all if I need pain relief to do so?!
Anyone have any experience with this?

Yes but not that quickly I’m afraid. Lots of Pilates and more time for me.

But I’m fairly sure that for me it’s not the riding itself that is the problem although this may be because I’m doing low level hacking. Getting on is where I have to be really careful. It’s the twisting I think not helped by my horse not likely to stand to be mounted. So I use a mounting block and if I’m feeling particularly delicate ask someone to hold her (I know I should train her more!) Also get on with ‘poor’ technique ie not facing tail just to reduce the twisting. I can get on from the ground if I need to but I minimise this as much as possible.

It’s horrible pain but you will get there eventually although I’m not sure it ever completely goes.

Thanks for the reply! How long have you been dealing with your SI problems?
Yes, my osteopath said it's not the riding she's worried about (assuming I don't come off!) but more the yard duties and associated lifting etc.. I have a potential loan home interested which may be a solution for while/give me a chance to rest and mend. So frustrating. Physio tonight at last - can't wait to be poked and prodded!Grin
