Finding local livery

Evening all, I’m after a little help. I have been offered a dream pony on loan for my daughter. I grew up with horses, feel reasonably confident in my ability to give adequate care but would like to be at a livery yard/ riding school to have a little backup. The trouble is I’m really struggling to find anywhere local, I’ve tried her riding school but not getting any answer... I think a number of staff have been furloughed and obviously the remaining are very busy. I have moved away from where I grew up and not been in the horsey world for sometime.... any suggestions on where to look. Google comes up with the same 4/5 either her riding school, a super flash eventing yard, a strict dressage yard or a place that specialises in western riding (the website certainly laboured the point and put me off).
What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions of how where to look? Thanks.

Your local tack shop or feed merchant will probably know of smaller private livery yards local to you; or you could ask your local pony club. Good livery yards are like good dust and place s tend to go by word of mouth. Facebook can be useful too - if you’re on there search for your area equine pages or groups.

Most of the livery yards I know (that aren't v posh eventing/ dressage types or riding schools) don't advertise at all. It all seems to be word of mouth! Tack shops are a good place to start, or ask on local horsey facebook pages.

Thank you... it’s quite nice to know things haven’t moved on too much since my days!!! I have to admit I’ve got my corona blinkers on and didn’t think about visiting the tack shop... 🤦‍♀️. I will contact the pony club too, thanks for the help, much appreciated!

Local horsey FB pages are great, you have to as with things on FB filter through some crap but there will be lots of nice, helpful people.

try www.liverylist.co.uk/
I used to advertise there when I first started my yard.
What area of the country are you?

Facebook might be the place to look nowadays.

Lock down permitting you can go old school - drive around until you see horses, stop and chat to the owners, they will direct you to any locals who are looking for one or two liveries. I get 1-2 visitors a year who see my horses and stop to ask if I do livery. I don't, but I am happy to pass on the names of friends who are looking.

Echo trying local horsey FB group and post asking for livery suggestions. The place where I currently rent 2 acres is one of those yards known about only through word of mouth! I have been in this area for years and only found it by happy accident.

Def FB. Just type in your area and livery, I found loads.

where abouts in the country are you? there will be equine facebook pages for your area.

Have you thought about what sort of livery you want full / part / DIY? what sort of facilities you want - hacking / schools etc? and have a look at dodgy livery yards page on facebook to get some feedback on potential places.
