Does anyone have recommendations for a nice friendly stables in the new forest where DD and I could book some lessons/activities during the Easter holidays? DD11 is pony club and has been having lessons once or twice a week since April. I'm novice but have signed up for take back the reins. We're going at Easter and will be staying in Brockenhurst. Thanks.

Fir tree farm is good. It isn't that near Brockenhurst but perfectly doable.
If you aren't local and are open to non-horsey things to do too, I would recommend going to Mudeford Quay.

Nonhorsey ideas very welcome too thanks Goodcat!

Heading towards Romsey so about 30 minute drive I can highly recommend Ampfield Riding Stables

Coombe stables in Sway is great, they usually have fun activities throughout the holidays and quite reasonably priced. It's about a 10 minute drive from Brockenhurst.
There's also brockenhurst riding stables who just offer hacks and Ford Farm in Brockenhurst for hacks and lessons.

Ford farm is right in brockenhurst. Direct hacking out onto the forest. The lady who owns it has forest run stock and will be able to tell you all about commoning etc.
Never been but coomb farm is fairly new and does pony days etc for kids.
Burley Villa is great if you want to try western.
The visitor centre in Lyndhurst is a must - important to teach pony mad DC why they shouldn't get close or feed the wild ponies. Nice tea shop there too.

Horrible riding stables ! Don’t go to ampfield. Worst place to take your children. Their teaching is horrible and talk about the kids. The “helping” children are like slaves and get shouted at if work isn’t up to standard. The young kids language they use is terrible, there’s shouting and arguing always happening. the horses look horrible and in poor condition and are used to there limits. While on a walk out you can see that the fields are full of poo and no grass!

Has anyone here heard of/been to the Forest Oaks stables in Lymigton? Apparently (according to my daughter and TikTok it's the most incredible yard in the UK). Erin Williams apparently stables her horses there and they also do lessons gor kids

@XelaM Forest Oaks livery starts at a mere £400 a week
It’s all very swish - and they obviously have good PR - but there are quite a few yards like that around. Those American-style barns don’t suit every horse either and they’re a nightmare for infection control too so don’t feel too jealous
