None paying loaner!

We’ve been loaning our pony to someone. It started off great then she was a week late paying then two then three. In the end I got stressed about chasing her and someone offered to buy her. She was not happy about it but it was a really great home. So now she owes me money and I cannot get her to pay. I have reminded her and she sent laughing emojis in response. Anyone been in a similar situation?

How dreadful. Are you up to speaking to a solicitor? What does the contract say about non- payment?
We loan a pony for dd. That's, I'm afraid, the extent of my knowledge.

To be honest you are very very unlikely to get it back. Though if I were you I would make it well known in your local area that she is a shit payer. Good luck to her getting a loan/livery again after that...

I'd be straight round there to get my pony back before this goes any further. You probably won't see the money she owes you, but at least you'll still have the pony. It is not unknown for ponies to go missing while on loan. If she has little regard for your current agreement she is unlikely to be trustworthy in other matters.

Go pick up the pony

Is it a part loan or a full loan? Part loan to be honest I’d just draw the line under it and forget it

Depends how much it is. I was watching Call the Sheriffs last night and they only charge £66 I think, but you’d have to weigh it up. As you have now sold the pony I don’t rckon you’re going to see your money.

I am afraid you have no chance of getting your money back but I would tell all and sundry about her.

compulsiveliar2019 · 15/07/2019 23:51

Did she agree to pay you in the first place though? In my experience it's not normal to charge for full loans. Usually the loaner takes on responsibility for the horses costs during the loan period. Is she paying Livery ect for the horse? Or are you? I've loaned lots of horses in the past and I have never paid the owner for them unless I chose to buy them.

I think I'd drop it and be glad I didn't have to deal with her anymore (and not recommend her locally).
