I know this has been done before but I can't find the threads...

I've just started as a groom at the stables I learned to ride at, am struggling for what to wear on my feet! At the moment I'm wearing my old Hunter wellies but I don't find them that comfy or warm enough really.

I'm on my feet for 8/9 hours, up and down hills, mucking out, up to my ankles in mud etc. A bit of research suggests that Muck Boots are probably the best bet but I'm balking a bit at £80+ as I've not been paid yet!

Any other suggestions very welcome; warm, comfy and waterproof are the priorities!

Dd’s got these Woof Wear boots

They’re too bulky to ride in but are warm and waterproof

I’ve got Ariat Windermere’s. They’re over a year old, worn daily and they keep my feet warm and dry. I wear them for dog walking and I’m always comfortable.

I've had similar to the woof wear and have just bought a pair of harry hall similar. I won't be buying online again... I've got big flipper shaped feet but both of this style of boot I've bought have come up absolutely MASSIVE on the foot - i.e., normally I wear a 6.5 but I've ordered the 7 and I swear they'd fit an 8 or 9!

I can only assume to accommodate the 16 pairs of socks you'd need to wear underneath as the actual foot area doesn't seem to be overly insulated, just the leg. Hmmn, never had a problem with cold calves before... Hmm.

Also bear in mind this type of boot is very wide across the ball of the foot and you may find too wide for your normal stirrups (safely), so you'd need to change to ride.

I’ve got the short version of the woof wear boots linked to above and they are excellent , I find them more comfortable than muck boots .

Aigle neoprene lined wellies for me. You can get knockoffs for about £40 or roughly £160 for the aigle ones.

Rigger boots

Hunters are over-priced rubbish. You need neoprene muck boots but there are a lot cheaper out there than £80. I got some from a farm shop for about £55 - warm, robust and waterproof.

I believe you can also get them from Go Outdoors. You really can't ride in them though, but for warm and waterproof they are light years ahead of wellies.

Muck boots here. Worn for 5 hours a day, muck out the worlds worse stable and trudge up down muddy track with hay water etc and fern are warm and dry. Got them off the muck boot website for £25 in their sale and they are brilliant.
