Can anyone answer quickly- what do I wear on my feet?

I'll be brief. Haven't ridden a horse in about 20 years. Always wanted to restart but we've never had the cash available.

Dh has just told me that he's booked me some riding lessons for Christmas and my first lesson is this morning!

I'm very excited but obviously I don't have any riding boots. Apparently the stables can let me borrow a helmet but nothing else. What is best to wear on my feet? Trainers, wellies or normal boots are my main options.

If someone can answer before I have to leave the house at 9.30 that would be great!

In theory normal boots. Small heel no large tread and goes up the ankle.

Wellies = too much tread.
Trainers = no ankle protection abd foot can slide through.

Have fun SmileFlowers

Of those three options, wellies would be the best. Unless you have a pair of Chelsea boots which are basically jodhpur boots.
You need something with a bit of a heel and not too wide.

I’ve ridden occasionally in wellies ( when I forgot to change into riding boots and wondered why my feet were cold).

Enjoy your lessons.

I’m too late to be useful re footwear, but would love to hear how you got on Smile

Thanks for the tips! I couldn't find my wellies anywhere so ended up taking ankle boots and knee high boots. They told me to stick with the ankle boots until I get my own.

Oh and I bloody loved it. Best Christmas present ever!!

You’ll have to get yourself some boots and jodhs now Wink
