Can it be done Grin

I have a very impatient youngster. If she comes off the lorry and works she is amazing. If there’s a wait for our class she starts to get bored and act silly and won’t settle afterwards.

Most things we do involve a wait between classes, for example today between two dressage tests. The first test she went fantastically but she was bored between the first and second and did not want to perform again and decided to become very strong and nappy.

I wondered if there’s anything I can do to teach her to wait between classes or is it just a case of going out more? I try my best to get there just before we need to be there but next week we have an 8 class wait between the two so I need to decide whether to risk it or just go for one Confused

It's not BHS approved but I'd tie her up somewhere safe and leave her to stand. Ignore he if she fusses but as soon as she relaxes give big praise. Give her a haynet if you feel like it. Tie her up after work so she starts to see it as a reward.

Getting her out more will help too. Do things like fun rides or just take her for a hack somewhere. Come back and tie her up while you have a drink before you go off again.

(learned this from a cowboy on a working cow ranch so your milage may vary)
