Strong pony rushing after jumps

He's fine walking and trotting, and dd doesn't mind him being forward xc when she finds him OK to control. But cantering and sj (particularly on grass) is a bit of a nightmare. He's had almost 5 months off after a fall out hunting, he's had tons of physio, a new saddle, recently reflocked. He went through a stage, before the fall, of looking very unhappy jumping. Now he looks delighted to be back. He jumped a few grids yesterday and some single fences at 90cm. After the last fence in the grid he just takes off! Dd eventually turns him in a circle and slows him. She says she likes it Confused but I don't! Any tips? He's in a Pelham which I think he leans terribly on so I need to change the bit. Dd is 12, experienced and with good hands and seat. Instructor says she rides him really well he's just a so and so Hmm

If he's had time off and was previously in discomfort he will probably settle down again with regular work.

TBH if neither your DD nor instructor are worried, I'd just wait and see if more work settles the pony - I hate rushing to a harsher bit if there's no need. Having said that, a Waterford usually stops the "bit leaning". Has he always gone in a Pelham? One of mine can be incredibly strong and enthusiastic when not in regular work, and I just whack her in a grackle and keep to the usual bit. Works a treat! She will just "go" in any bit if she feels like it, but never argues with the grackle for some reason.

I instinctively feel a grackle might work unfortunately the one I have is too big. He came in a ns universal, I'm hoping to get him back into it soon.
