Only thoughts I can give from my experience is that I did one of the first Equine degrees over 20yrs ago and wish I hadn't. It really didn't qualify me for anything. There are so few jobs it leads to for which an equine degree is necessary - lecturing and nutrition maybe. I think most people on the course ended up doing a job unrelated to horses or a horsey job they could have done without the degree.
It has never been any use to me except for being 'a degree'.

Equine physiotherapy is an expanding area. Would that suit your dd? Other than that I cant think of any equine degree that would lead to a long term successful career.

Wouldn't recommend vet physio. Too many people doing it these days, not enough clients. 99% of Physios are self employed and therefore in competition with vets, massage therapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and also chartered physiotherapists, who in my opinion, are more highly regarded than those who have only done a vet physio qualification.

I also did an equine degree. I enjoyed it and it was really interesting, but ultimately it got me nowhere but massively in debt.

My advice, keep horses as a hobby.

What about veterinary nursing - I think you just need GCSEs?
There are plenty of equine vets around and abroad too.

My daughter is at Hartpury doing a Business Degree with a Equine link. She loves it. Look at the equine colleges/ universities there are lots around. There is no point in her doing a degree for three plus years if she hates it. Good luck with it all

When I employ people, whether it be full time or a working pupil, I have to admit that experience far outweighs qualifications. I have had some work placements from ten college to the stud and they have been hopeless although have done well in college. I have then had apprentices who have no qualifications to begin with who have then gone on to be the best grooms for the future.

Good courses in Newton Rigg Cumbria I believe. Friends daughter went there. Lots of horses so practical work as well.

If she got 3 A grade A levels then she presumably is on a relevant degree course to those and should be able to cope if she apples herself . I agree with your husband and pp , horses are best as a hobby if you have an option as there is very little money in it . Long term there is nothing to stop her working with horses after her degree but at least she will have a fall back for later .
