Rugs

Now the autumn is approaching, I'm on the hunt for new turnout rugs for my soon-to-be clipped rescue cob.

Historically I've relied on Premier Equine (sales!) but unfortunately their rugs are too long for dumpy pony!

Can anyone recommend a rug brand that's hard wearing and will survive the winter?

Bucus - not cheap , but the couple I have had I have been really impressed with the quality, plus they are really generous through the should and bum, but aren't as long as the premier equines.

Rambo! Lots of money but last and do the job brilliantly.

I like Shires rugs for a chunky cob

I really like Derby house. They nearly always have special offers when they are super cheap. I like that the material is soft but waterproof. I always find them a good fit and they have quality features like chest clip fasteners and stretchy leg straps.

Thanks for the replies, some really useful suggestions!

Has anyone had a Masta or Bridleway turnout rug? Any good?

I've had a Masta stable rug which held up well but not tried a winter turnout.

I bought a Bridleway because it had the detachable neck cover and I prefer the leg straps rather than a fillet string and it's been a good HOWEVER, both the leg straps have come adrift from the rug and have had to be mended. I don't know if that's just the way my horse treats his rugs although I've not had that issue before or if it's just cheap fixing. Weatherbeeta are a favourite of mine, ditto Amigo but I don't know what they're like for fitting chunky horses.
