old riding hats

Hello everyone. I have two riding hats that are no longer in use. they are British Standard but several years old. How do I dispose of them? Is there any organisation that can do something with them or do I have to send them to land fill? I would value your help. Thanks.

Not sure a charity shop would take them, as second hand, you could never know whether they were safe, bit like second hand car seats.

I work in a charity shop, yes we do take them, there's nothing to say we can't take them and re-sell them.

Thank you everyone. I don't know why my message appeared so many times - sorry about that! I didn't think charity shops would take them cuz second hand hats should not be used, though they would be ok for kids dressing up. What does everyone else do?

Second-hand riding hats should just go in the bin, not safe to use. Charity shops should certainly not sell them, but then people should not buy them from there either. Also, standards are changing as of January, so they may not still be correct anyway. New ones can be very cheap, not worth the risk imho.

I bought my dgd a new riding hat this month. As standards are changing from January the hats that don't conform were on sale at £5. The new regulation hat was £55.
