I finally lost two stone in weight and me and and the daughter decided that I should finally ride the beast that we have had now for three years.
It was so much fun even if all my thigh tendons are screaming, we even went for a little canter. I used to work with horses so know how to sit but am well out of practice!
But I do worry about weight! do you think it is OK?

I actually think you will be fine tootling round for 30 mins on her :)
Im also on a riding diet, My mum's horse has arthritis now so I want to lighten his burden. My horse is now retired, my son's pony is tiny, so Mum's is the only chance of riding that I have.

If it's knees don't buckle you'll be fine! :-)
Natives are bred to be weight carriers. Unless it has legs like spaghetti 11 stone is nothing!
My big traditional Shetland will carry 11 stone!

Really interesting article here about weight-carrying ability. Personally I go for the 15-20% rule and wouldn't be happy riding anything where I was 20%+ of the weight, at least on a regular basis.
