My daughters are away at university and I don't ride and am allergic to horses! I have had some help from a friend with care and feeding, in exchange for free stabling and grazing, but it is proving too much for her. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I should advertise or look for someone to help?

If I can find someone, but my daughters don't want them to leave home (we have land and stables) and would be worried about them going away, as we had a previous bad experience of someone having a horse on loan. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I found a brilliant share person for my pony on Preloved might be worth sticking in ad in there?
Also the notice boards of local horsey tack/feed places.
Perhaps get in touch with the local riding club and livery yards and see if anyone wants to come and help?
Good luck!

Quite a lot of loan and share agreements specify they have to stay at current yard.

Other option is you pay someone.......

Thank you for your replies, which I will follow up. It's not an issue about payment, as I imagine that someone helping out would want payment whether as cash or in return for grazing and stabling. It's more a matter of finding the right person.

Do your daughters have any riding friends still in the area? Can they tap into that network?

I have just started sharing THE most amazing horse, I think his owner is happy and I am over the moon, we were match-made through my riding instructor......

Surely your daughters have a network of horsey people they could put the call out too?

Yes, we are on the case, so will hopefully find a solution soon!

Put a 'Pony for Loan' ad in the Mercury.

All now sorted. I have found somebody who seems ideal, who was recommended by someone in the local horse fraternity (or whatever the female of that is!). Thanks for your suggestions everybody.
