There's a lot of larking in the field frosty, as there are 6 ponies in there, and 6 others in the field right next door
At the moment, and me not being an expert, I would say the improvement in less than 24 hours is huge. We have gone from standing on 3 legs, snorting in pain, to being able to weight bear at 6.30am this morning, I went to the farm at 11am and he was wandering around the stable with a limp, back again at 1pm and the limp is even less pronounced. I assume the prescribed medication won't have kicked in yet either, I only sedated him again to make him rest, he doesn't ever really stop moving!
The vet said to stable for at least 48 hours and then he will call and discuss how rapid the recovery has been but about a week of no riding, I plan to keep him in until at least until Thursday then think again. The problem is he doesn't eat very much when stabled and he has a slight build anyway so I would rather he didn't lose too much weight at this time of year.
I am hoping that, given the rapid improvement, we have got away with it. I have huge guilt too because we pony raced for the first time on Sunday and was convinced we had injured him, but the vet said racing was highly unlikely to cause that kind of injury.
He was very good at it actually, DD and Dpony came 2nd on their first outing (had no idea we had a speedy pony!), but would hate to think we caused him damage.
Thoughts again with you for your DD too.
