Riding after forceps and episiotomy?

rinkydinker · 29/09/2013 15:02

I had ventouse then forceps with episiotomy with my little boy's birth four and a half months ago.

I used to do endurance but have now ridden three times since the stitches healed and it gets pretty sore :( It is sore even walking the dogs :(

Has anyone gone back to long hacking after this? Got any tips? I used to use a heather moffat seat saver but am now thinking fluffy and soft may be best :) ?

You've got to laugh but the dr who cut it and stitched it looked up at me through my stirrupped legs and said in a yorkshire accent 'well, I made a right mess of that!' lol and yeah its like a badly made pasty edging dine there tmi

I think I'd be going back to the doctors with it if I were you. I had ventouse and episiotomy, and I was back riding after 3 weeks with only a little discomfort. After a couple more weeks everything was back to normal. If it is still causing you discomfort after that long I think that is a sign something is not right down there, and you shouldn't have to just put up with it!

Def have it checked- I couldn't sit comfortably 4 months after epi and needed to go back to hospital Hmm

I was the same as Yorkie and had third degree epi. Trot hurt the first time I rode but 16 weeks post birth I did my first 32km ride post baby!!

Poor you! Get back to the doctors. I had 2 tears, a second and a third degree tear, and was back riding 5 weeks later and hunting again after 12 weeks. A friend of mine had to have a bit of 'remedial work' after an episiotomy. She waited 5 years to get it done and wished she'd done something about it sooner, and told me when I had my first baby that if I needed anything seen to - get back to the doctor sooner rather than later.

Oh my, I better go back and have it looked at hadn't I! Not an appt I will be looking forward to!! Thanks for your advice!

Yep, go back, might be too tightly stitched or something! Painful :-/

Def go back. I had ventouse and episiotomy with ds in nov 2004, by June the following year I still couldn't ride without a lot of discomfort. Went to the gp who took one look and referred me for surgery. I had it done 6 weeks later, and was back riding the week after the stitches came out - good as new.
