I've just used a Solocomb to 'pull' pony's mane

And I think it looks good. He will not let you pull it conventionally. Is it going to grow back terribly?? I also pulled other pony's mane the old fashioned way and managed to slice my little finger open with his hair Grin

Yeah ohhh those paper cut type hair cuts are nasty. lets us know what it looks like in a few months.
I did use to have 20 years ago a metal flea comb with a razor stuck to it, suppose to thin out the under coat in dogs. Didn't think it worked.

I use one for dpony whose mane is incredibly thick and takes forever to do by hand. What I try and do to avoid the really thick cut edge is use the comb to reduce the bulk of the mane and then pull by hand any straggly bits. It isn't as good as hand pulling, but if you have a horse that won't let you do that then it's a fairly good compromise, but I found I had to be quite careful not to let the cut edges show.

I use it to pull dhorse's tail as he hates that and it's quicker and safer with the comb, and I can't/won't tail plait!

The pony ds rides had a lovely mane but the owner has cut it straight along with scissors. Seems to be the new fashion but it looks terrible!

I hate the cut edge look too - it's very popular in showjumping circles. Not sure why I don't like it, I just don't!
