Do not lose only set of car keys in the morning before school run with 2 minutes to spare before taking dc up lane to meet the one and only school bus.
Defiitely do not then leap into the only vehicle available ,in a blind panic, if that happens to be a horsebox
100% do not drive off in a hurry without doing normal 1000 point safety check because you will accidently leave living step down which as you go round corner will rip down post and rail fencing and tear step and various bits of trim off said lorry Shock
Argh, am so angry with myself, first time I have damaged vehicle since I reversed into my dads car in drive after watching 9/11 news breaking.
God knows how much its going to cost to fix, have done a fairly comprehive job of ripping the flipping thing off Blush
DH away today (with other car hence panic) will be chuffed to get home and see the fence!
on the plus side, we did make the bus Grin

Oh buggerations. What a horrible start to the day. In future I think you should force your children to walk/cycle to catch the bus regardless of weather/traffic etc.

And make them save their pocket money to pay for fencing and lorry repair. It was their fault after all. You would still be in bed if you didn't have to do the bus run...

yes am liking that thinking Callisto, just need to give them bit more notice as long way to sprint Grin
just taken it for repair quote, and luckily as I still have all the bits, will just be a couple of hours welding, not nearly as much as I was thinking, thankfully!

Buy them an alarm clock set to the time they need to leave to walk for the bus. Grin

Glad the damage is not too bad on the lorry.

I think they should take a pony to the bus, perhaps two children per pony, complete with lunch pails and straw hats. Like Little house on the prairie, if the had horses. Did they? Or The Waltons.

Laura had a pony for a while. She sold it to be Nellie's Christmas present in exchange for a stove for her mum. She didn't know her dad was making a saddle for her as a surprise, so on Christmas morning she had a saddle but no pony Sad (mind you, it was a horrid wooden thing, I wouldn't have put it anywhere near a pony of mine ).

Funny how I can remember these things but not proper important RL stuff Hmm.
Agree with making children walk, in wooden clogs if possible.

Make the children ride to school-kilss two birds with one stone.Ponies get exercised, you save on fuel bills.

I took our ponies into the school car park last year, for the dds to ride home on.A few of the teachers were looking at me a bit Hmm and I fully expected a letter saying 'no ponies on school premises',but no,nothing.Grin

Pixel-thats so sad :(, who knew that was all on youtube, hours of timewasting coming up Smile

Mirage-great idea but would need spare pony for bookbags/saxophone/sports kit, plus DD would have to spend 30 mins with a roll off hair thingy at the other end, removing every last trace of horse hair from her uniform Grin

oh for those simple little house on the prairie days!

My sister used to have a 'free' afternoon from school that was supposed to be used for sport so she would go riding obviously. She used to come and collect me from sixth form and we would ride home 'doubles' (shire X so hardly cruel - I was 6.5 stone in those days ). One of the teachers would hijack horse for a go round the playing field, I was always expecting a complaint from the PE teachers for the wrecked football pitch but we never got one Grin.

Miggy, get a trap. Pile in kids and saxophones. Trot to school. Job done and a fortune saved in petrol/fences/bits of lorries.
