Anyone reccomend a good online place? Have googled but it is overwhelming! ONly just started back so not going to buy any right away but just looking.

There is a riding shop about 20min from me, am I better to go in and buy in person? Or much cheaper online?

Also my legs are a bit chubby just now....traumatic few months with no exercise! Will riding boots fit over my fat legs?!

Try fast tack direct. It's an on line shop and very good. Sorry I can't link am typing one handed whilst feeding DS!

I think it may be a good idea to at least start by going to a good tack shop. You need to find out what fits you and what styles you like before looking on line.

Are you talking about ankle boots or long boots and are you considering leather, rubber, synthetic etc?

We ride in Ariat ankle boots (Devon Pros) with either long riding socks or half chaps every day. They last for years and are fantastic but expensive.

Depends if you want them just for riding or for mucking out/walking as well. A lot of people now go for the more Dubarry style boots (lots of cheaper brands now available) which can be good for riding and every day wear.

It's a good site :) I ride in muckers and half chaps, so have a think what is comfy for you. I did a riding safari in Botswana and got a lot of kit from them x

I like to try on. Different brands do vary in size, and calf width can very too. Yes you can get cheaper online, but that's no use if they don't fit.

And if long boots won't fit get joddy boots and chaps - everyone wears them these days and brands like Shires are relatively cheap too
