Dpony is very grumpy and stand offish, she isn't a people pony at all,she doesn't even care if she has equine company or not. However she is very very jealous of any other pony we've had showing any interest in me at all. They only have to whinny when they see me coming for her to fly at them squealing and try to double barrel them,so I have to put an electric fence between her and our other pony for safety.
She is a dream out and about though and behaves perfectly when ridden in company.

I was poo picking in her field today and she was ignoring me as usual, when 2 people stopped to talk to me and admire dpony. They were trying to call her over, and I explained that she didn't like people too much, when she sauntered over and shoved her head under my hand for some fuss.I was taken aback and made a big deal of it and as I left the field she stood at the gate watching me.I went back and fussed her again and she was really happy, even let me touch her ears,a big no no.She stood and watched me until I was out of sight as I left the yard.I can't quite believe it and am hoping she isn't sickening for something,or it could just be that a year of me spending hours a day with her have finally paid off.SmileI honestly never thought I'd see the day!

that's so nice, my ponies used to do this to my mum, when my sister and I left home my mum looked after them and spent hours with them every day. If they saw her walking the dog across the fields, even if she was 400-500m away they would start whinning.

My previous Dhorse was amazingly affectionate and would stand cuddles, hugs and kisses, but never ever came when he was called. New dhorse always calls out for me in the field and usually comes over, but can not bear being cuddled or kissed at all. His head goes up a bit, his ears are at sort of half mast and he starts stepping backwards gently - as if to say "hang on a minute, you're invading my space!"

It is lovely though when they are cuddly, especially if you are feeling a bit gloomy!

I poo pick for a pair of highlands. One is slightly older and has a heart murmer. Occasionally, he has a funny turn. Once or twice he's gone through a fence rail and hurt himself. I always know when he's been poorly. He's generally a real stand alone horse. He will accept a pat then wanders off. When he's had a bad time, he runs straight over to me when I arrive, nudges me, and then just stands right next to me, staring off into the distance. It translates as "where we're you? It was horrible! Hold my hoof!"
You really can read him like a book. When he does it, I text his mum and ask what happened. I'm always spot on! Grin
