D'oh... or not as the case may be!

Easily done.Grin
Tell us about him/her.

Amieesmum · 21/07/2012 20:09

was sort of an accident -Owner is an instructor, she was giving a girl a lesson on him when i got there to look at the pony, (first time girl had ridden him) and he was being a naughty little so & so, she no longer rides due to an injury. She asked if i'd hunted before (which i have although not for a while) and then asked if could get on to get him paying attention.... so i did....
So she asked if i'd like to loan him, seeing as she hasn't got anyone that can really manage riding him there. (so taking him home tomorrow) my yard is only 10 minute hack away.
He's 15'2, bay, 8 years, hunter type. Nice lad, but a bit nappy. Behaved fine for me, both in the school and out, but put in a few bucks & ran off with the girl who was riding him tho. Will see how we get on, and if he goes well then she will probably sell him.

I love the way these things come to us in the horsey world. I have always has a horse or pony find me when needed, if I knew I needed them at the time or not lol!
He sound super, something to keep your riding up while you work on the prety pony... but what about dd... dare you take on another?

roadkillbunny · 21/07/2012 20:47

I'm still looking for one for DD, got a few more to try during the week :D plenty of ponies around so i'm sure something will crop up lol
Plenty of room so what's one more lol :D as long as DP doesn't start telling me off for spending even more time with the ponies than i do with him (he knows he's bottom of the pecking order already)
Besides... harvest time is the best time to get more I can sneak them in & he wont notice hahaha

He sounds lovely and obviously realised he couldn't take the pee with you. These things are meant to be.Just tell your dp that you need something to keep you out of mischief whilst he is busy.Plus you can eventually take your dd hunting at reduced rates if you are babysitting her.Win win!

Fantastic news. I taught my DH to ride and got him a horse, so now we go out riding together and it's really lovely. The way he and Nell are together though means that there are 3 of us in this marriage, she kisses him when he goes to the field Grin Perhaps your DH could be persuaded?

Amieesmum · 23/07/2012 20:13

PMSL! No wayyy would he learn to ride - DP owns the farm where i keep the horses (sort of how we met) In fairness to him, he's pretty good with them, but far more interested in making money than spending it tight arsed farmer type I just keep filling his fields with more ponies, as errhhum we found one for DD today :D another little welshie.

You're making me laugh, Amieesmum. My DH is a farmer and was never interested in horses. Before we got married, but were a couple, I used to keep my horse in a field close to his farm. One evening in November in the semi-dark, he caught me mounting my horse on the road at the gate entrance, where horse was kept because it was the only hard standing available and I needed the gate to help me get on. It was a quiet country lane, but quite dangerous to do IYSWIM?

Anyway... it was at that point he insisted that my horse was moved to his farm sheds, where I could get on/off in safety...

We've gone from 1 horse out with his cows 24/7 & "ignored and just about tolerated", to 6 horses in specified "horse" paddocks, with their own shed and stabling and him changing the rugs and turning out in the morning! Grin I've also just broken the news that I'm looking to buy 2 fillies at the Welsh Cob sales this autumn...

My DH refuses to learn to ride though! Apparently, he would loose his credibility!!

Amieesmum · 24/07/2012 21:55

Yes exactly the same - he'll do "duties" when requested, and even the odd pat when he thinks no one is looking but is far more interested in his cows lol :D (was amusing when 3 of the calfs made a bid for freedom into the pony's paddock this morning :D) cue me pissing myself laughing at him chasing them back into their field but to actually learn to ride, I think he sat on a horse... once... a long time ago tho lol
