I don't even like changing lightbulbs Hmm but have to fence off a long thin strip for them (am hoping they will bomb up and down it and lose some podge) - is there an idiot's guide? Are all batteries compatible with all energisers, more or less?

Ooh, another hint:
If you are doing a straight run, hook up the tape at both ends and pull it tight, then put the posts in. You will get a good strong straight line then.
Checklist:
Battery.
Energiser with 4 wires. 1 live and 1 earth to attach to the battery, 1 lead out cable to attatch to fence. 1 earth wire to attatch to earth rod.
Earth rod.
Big hammer to bash in earth rod.
Plastic insulators for ends or fence.
Plastic gate handles, 1 for each strand of wire.
Plastic posts.
Try not to put your gateway in the corner nearest home. They will stand here waiting and you will end up with a bog.

And remember, tree trunks, nails, wooden posts and undergrowth all conduct electricity and will short out your fence and drain your battery. Only let your fence tape touch plastic.
You'd be surprised the people I have met who can't work this out! Our local fencing specialist regularly uses nails as insulators! Confused
