sorry to hear that, we've already cut lots which is lucky - maybe yours will dry out in time yet?

Loshad · 06/07/2012 23:24

even stables not dry, Rosie's stable is awash, have turned her back out in a rug Sad
hay anytime soon [sceptical]

Mirage · 06/07/2012 23:26

I'm starting to worry about hay too,but keep telling myself that we've got weeks to go yet.

The brook near us has burst it's banks and my neighbour has had to move all his sheep. My dad keeps his sheep a bit further downstream,so I drove over the fields to check on them. The water was a fair way across the field and the bridge just about to go underwater, but no drowned sheep that I could see.Thank goodness for 4 x 4's,I got in and out of the waterlogged field effortlessly.

feel bad that, when saw all the rain and usual stuff on news about cars getting stuck etc my first thought was 'water ride'

see? it's much more fun when you get a month of rain in a day (although was still only paddling)

Yes, I might moan that being on a hill we have nowhere flat to do schooling but at least it also means we are still green and almost mudless, despite constant rain. The chalk helps too of course, would hate to be in a clay area atm!
(my lawn is a different matter, you need a snorkel to get to the shed).

horseylady · 07/07/2012 18:21

Clay, flat surrounded by brooks :(

Not fun not very good :( horses back in 24/7 though hopefully not for long!!

We haven't had much rain at all here! thank god

CMOTDibbler · 07/07/2012 22:30

Loads of rain here, but paddocks holding out v well. For fun, I trotted dpony to the yard in hand, and he did the most amazing jumps over the big puddles.

People round here have had one cut of hay/haylage off already, and as long as theres a dry spell to cut, the grass growth should mean a really good crop.

horseylady · 07/07/2012 23:54

I think we've had two dry weeks since march.

It'll be brilliant hay if we get it in!!! There's so much grass but the fields are of no use if they turn to mud this time of year. Thankfully the horses are ok being in and have an area to run round in. Just means they're back to being ridden daily lol
