my dd is almost 7 and just started riding.

For her birthday she is being kitted out with her own hat / boots etc. Does she need a body protector for weekly lessons in the riding school ?

In my day we never had them (old gimmer alert )

Remembered tonight, Aivleys are doing 10% of at the moment for pony club camp things.

Just tell them it's Poole pony club or something.

Always have a body protector and helmet. You'd never forgive yourself if she was hurt and you could have prevented it. Try Decathlon who sell riding equipment for half the price you would pay in a tack shop. Body protectors selling in Countrywide for £127 are £60 in Decathlon. There are some branches in the UK but not many. You can buy online if you know the sizes.

My 9 year old wears one for jumping and pony club. On a normal hack out with me running alongside, no body protector. But it's compulsory and non negotiable for jumping.

Tbh, I haven't bought the 4 year old one yet. She had a hat fitted, but until she's off the lead reign, I'd rather her feel more of the natural pony movements for now. I think I may take her stirrups away though... So perhaps I will have a look for one.
