For anyone who has read here about the youngster that DD bought for herself to keep our own yearling colt company...

ha very true....and loving your thinking!

was thinking cleveland bay - if I could find one (or convince dh to let me send her to the vet for AI Grin)

Nice. You could do AI. Theres a place near me that does Arab AI. Starts at £150 goes up into many thousands of pounds. I was tempted to AI my welsh A to an Arab, but ive stuck to the A stallion I used last time. He's coming to stay in a few days!

cazboldy · 16/05/2012 09:06

our vet does it.... he says it would be approx £300-500.

am thinking I will keep up the hard work for now, and see where we are at this time next year Smile

cazboldy · 16/05/2012 09:07

but that stallion actually only stands about an hour away from me so would be doable for natural service too!

I've been down playing with the beasties today. Skye was amazing. She still won't be caught, but follows her mate into the pen And is then easily rounded up. She let me brush her from top to bottom, did her mane AND tail, combed out her feathers and pick up and held all her feet. She also stood perfectly, and let me cut off all of her dreadlocks. Every time I handle her, she takes it all on board and remembers it the next time.
However I now have dd to deal with! She is a bit miffed that I wouldn't let her help, with the ground work! I was far to concerned that she would get her head taken off by a flying hind hoof! I offered to hand over to her tonight, after she finished her ridden ponies, and the little bugger said she didn't want to, as she wanted to go home and watch Eastenders! Confused

Well done you! Smile

(dd will get over it Grin)

Well, today with Skye was fantastic. She is no longer the pony we purchased with the aladdins slippers because she went MENTAL when the farrier tried to trim her feet, and who threw herself over backwards when tied up and cut her face open.
I caught her up, tied her loosely, picked out, trimmed and filed all her feet, and she stood like an angel! Smile
Her mate, however... Our own bred Alfie... Was a little bugger! He kept waving his front paws about whilst I was trying to file, reared up and snatched his back hooves out of my hands! He is totally comfy with us, so pays absolutely no mind when I get cross and stamp my foot! He was >< this close to being beaten to death with a foot file! Grin
