cross-tying in a trailer

We've changed to a single trailer and although dpony is happy as larry loading, travelling etc. he's developed a new trick and is now more or less self-unloading. Although he stands facing forward to travel he uses his rope untying ability and then is able to turn 180 degrees so he's ready to launch out when we arrive. Apart from wondering why I insisted new trailer had to have front unload, I'm worried he may start to turn when we're travelling (at the moment he seems to wait until he hears us outside). The obvious solution seems to be to cross-tie him but I wondered if there were any reasons not to?

I'd do it as a matter of course!

I travel my mare in a double trailer without a partition and always cross tie her to stop her turning.

Thanks. Never seen it done before by friemds with single trailers and was worried it might affect his balance or something. Will try it out tonight for pony club.

You could try quick release trailer ties, they should baffle him.
