What is the best way to pass a horse & rider in a car?

Obviously not too fast and give plenty of space. But I'm sure I read somewhere that too slow is not too good either because it can spook some horses.

How do you like to be passed? I like to be a considerate driver :)

Yup - I always do the huge nod and smile thing. Most of the time I CAN take my hands off the reins to wave, but if there are cows pratting about in the field on the other side of the hedge I won't take my hands off the reins. Especially if they are humping - that REALLY freaks DHorse out.
