Local show - do you usually need breed registration papers to enter showing classes?

There's a local show in a couple of weeks and it has an Arab class. Dd's pony is obviously an Arab, but we don't have any papers, and her passport just says "grey mare"

I know that you don;t usually have to show papers for mountain and moorlands, but do you think we'll get away with it for an Arab? There's not phone number for the organizer, so I thought I'd ask for opinions on here first!

Should think so, wouldn't be needed round here. Although DD's friends found it useful when a judge insisted her gelding was only part-arab and should be plaited....Mum politely produced the papers and judge didn't mark them down in the next class.

That's a point - dd has shown her before and nobody's mentioned her being plaited. She really is ridiculously obviously Arab!

I would suggest not for local showing. Just put her in your choice of class and the judge will decide on your suitability for that class unless it specifically says for pure breds (ie at a breed show etc).

For affilliated showing (NSP, BSPS, PUK, etc) you'll sometimes be asked for your breed reg number and/or height certificate number - depending on breed and type. However for local showing you'll be fine.

I wonder how much competition there'll be - funny if she was the only one!

Well, it's make up for her being places 10th of 10 in prettiest mare on Sunday - now there was a judge who didn't like Arabs!
