Livery yards and idiotic horse owners

I am sure nobody here is unfamiliar with yard politics, I just need a little rant to get this out of my system...

Next month I will be moving yards for the first time in 8 years, this is because my best friend lives at the yard and she is moving next week which will be sad, and without her I would go mad because of the other liveries!

We have this woman there...she is clearly not really horsey, her 2 horses are status symbols just like her 5 cars. All horses are supposed to be in at night but she doesn't bother. She tells lies. And she does the stupidest things. Her mare is very skinny but she doesn't seem to care. She was turned out in the pouring rain in a torn turnout rug...over a stable rug. Her pony is behaving like a rig, and came from a yard where they never turned him out but she didn't ask why!!!
And today she did the stupidest thing ever. She put her friend's pony in with her rig/rig-like-gelding, in the same STABLE! WTF??? What the hell is she trying to do!? This made me so angry. Apparently she opened the stable door and the other pony came dashing out and refused to be caught, poor thing. Her friend is the only other livery now and a bit of a div.

Argh! They drive me mad. I would love to be able to ignore it, but it just makes me so angry. Especially when the horses are put in such stupid, unnecessary, dangerous situations.

So, I am off to a new yard, which I am a bit nervous about anyway, but I think it is the right time Confused

Oh please show us, I rarely get to see anyone who is more rubbish than me (unless they have never been on a horse before). Pleeeease.

WhyHavePets · 14/01/2011 18:53

Just give us the title but

type fjksfjskfsdk
the fsjhfjdfhs
title jfkdsjfksd
like fjsfsfjlfjkd
this fjsdfksd

that way it is not searchable! (sorry really want a smile!)

Pixel · 14/01/2011 19:52

Yes on Youtube, that's the trouble, there will be lots of links so it will be obvious who I'm talking about. One of you could be his wife. Grin It's ok to have a bit of a rant on here about idiots but I don't feel right actually naming names iyswim. Unless there is some secret way of just using the video on its own that I don't know about? I shouldn't have mentioned it really!

ManateeEquineOhara · 14/01/2011 19:57

Yes yes - what Whyhavepets said :o

The stable yard idiot had an argument with me today. I am looking after my friend's dogs at the yard as she has a delay on her new house, and the yard idiot is complaining about dog poo - which is reasonable enough - but the dogs have always lived there and she never complained to my friend so I get the feeling she just wanted an argument. This was further confirmed when I pointed out in the 'conversation' that this is a stable yard she said "No it isn't"...WTF!!!? Most bizarre. Anyway, it is not like the dogs are going in the middle of a neat concrete yard...it is deep mud everywhere and they go at the edge near the hedges. She is just being awkward.

In some roundabout way I have ended up apologising of sorts for my 'un-helpfulness'. But when someone comes at you like a fish-wife rather than starting a reasonable discussion I just feel no desire to respond in a helpful manner! GRRRR!!!

I'm going to try and find it on youtube based on the evidence :o

OP posts:
Pixel · 14/01/2011 20:02

Lol, you haven't got any evidence!

ManateeEquineOhara · 14/01/2011 20:04

It is jumping!? I realise this is not particularly specific!!!

OP posts:
Pixel · 14/01/2011 20:04

And I don't understand what Whyhavepets meant, I am a technothickie.

ManateeEquineOhara · 14/01/2011 20:11

She means put the details of the video typed downwards with random letters between each part so that it wouldn't come up in a search.

OP posts:
WhyHavePets · 14/01/2011 20:17

I do, if you type something out straight "like this is typed" then it would show up on a google search or an MN search but if you did it the way I did above then it would not be picked up on a search (unless someone had the exact combination of random letters you had used of course!)

LovePinkBitsOfMyHorse · 14/01/2011 20:44

come on pixel, you could pm it if you like?

Pixel · 14/01/2011 20:45

..........huh?

Sorry, my eyes were glazing over there! Blush

Ok, I could try it with a different video to see if I can do it, but what I don't understand is, surely it will still just link to youtube where it will be shown with all the little video links down the side and everything? Including the person's name on one of them.

Anyhow, I'm not sure it's worth all this worry, you aren't missing that much.Grin It just looks like a short clip of a complete beginner doing their first jump, it's only notable because of the 'trainer' claims!

Oh and all the other juicy gossip I know about him...hee hee

Pixel · 14/01/2011 21:20

Ok, to appease you a little, here is a non-video example of the idiot's level of knowledge and/or morals. He always has horses for sale, usually scrawny underfed youngsters that he advertises for ridiculous amounts. He is currently advertising a 26 yo TB mare which is apparently good for breeding or being brought back into work!

WhyHavePets · 14/01/2011 21:31

WTF?? Shock

Oh that is just bad! At least the youngsters have a chance of ending up somewhere good/with someone good.

If the old mare gets bought to be bred then it may well be her last home (especially if this is her first foal)... what a d**k Sad

ManateeEquineOhara · 14/01/2011 22:18

That is very sad for the horse :(

I have been a bit of an idiot and said all the things I feel about the bitch at the stables - to her. She responded with a tirade of abuse :( "How to make your last weeks at a yard into hell" - By Manatee Blush Confused

OP posts:
WhyHavePets · 14/01/2011 22:31

oops! Probably not the wisest choice Manatee! Still, I bet it was quite cathartic though?!

Pixel · 14/01/2011 22:38

At least you know you are leaving so you can cling on to that. I've only had one proper row with someone at a yard and we didn't speak for months, it was very unpleasant!

olderyetwider · 14/01/2011 22:41

LINK pixel!

WhyHavePets · 14/01/2011 22:47

Well, I am not married so i can't be his wife... therefore you could PM it to me?? Grin

ManateeEquineOhara · 14/01/2011 22:53

I knowwwww. So stupid of me. I have actually since attempted to apologise to her by text only to receive further abuse - apparently I don't feed my horse...which is odd...she has ad lib hay because they all do, and both vet and farrier think she needs to lose weight!!! Grr. She knows just how to wind me up. It is really unpleasant and I can't wait to get out of there now which is such a shame after 8 good years. I move on the 7th Feb, but we are having a much needed Centre Parcs break from 31st - 4th, so not TOO much longer. But it does seem like a lot of days considering today's disaster Confused

OP posts:
olderyetwider · 14/01/2011 22:57

Why don't these stupid people just understand what a privilege it is to have these lovely creatures in our lives, and go around beaming at everyone as a result!

It makes me very cross when people can't understand this. Our yard is run by hippies, who would prescribe them herbs!

olderyetwider · 14/01/2011 22:58

(sorry, just to be clear, people you're describing are stupid, not people here)

ManateeEquineOhara · 14/01/2011 23:02

Oooh, you are not in Devon are you Oldery? I got some herbs for my mare from someone who runs a livery yard near me!

I have just uploaded pictures of the mare to my profile now as the bitch has made me feel I need to prove she is not in need of any more weight on her!

OP posts:
olderyetwider · 14/01/2011 23:06

No miles away, in Leicestershire. Our lovely yard owner always has a range of herbs growing, for the horses to choose from!

ManateeEquineOhara · 14/01/2011 23:08

That sounds so lovely! The woman I was thinking of in Devon is also a healer. Unfortunately there is no hacking at all from her yard and that would never do for me and the mare.
