Title says it all really! obviously it would be longer if had stitches/tears or a c.section, but just wondering on average how long before can get back in the saddle?

hmmm does that title even make sense? should be 'how long after giving birth was it before you rode'?

8 years for me!!
Not an expert, but I'd say a couple of months starting gently and gradually build it up to more.

was 10 days with ds1, 2weeks with dd2 and am going riding tomorrow 8weeks after dd3. Think your body will let you know - I have only just in the past couple of weeks been really keen to get going again and actually this was the easiest birth. did not have stitches after the tear though so think i have wanted to be really sure. i will still be taking it easy though.

9/10wks after dd1's hard birth, no problem. 15 months later tried riding 2/3 weeks after dd2's easy birth and discovered that this time non-existant stomach muscles and stretched ligaments meant I couldn't even keep feet in stirrups during trot! Guess it all depends on how each birth effects you.

c-section - 6 weeks. It did hurt the first couple of times doing a deep-seated sitting trot and dismounting - but 12 weeks in and I'm fully up to speed, galloping & jumping. :)

horseymum 10 days after first??? f*kin hell - I couldn't even sit down for 6 weeks!! 10 days is just pure showing off!!! Neds was on loan so I didn't ride for a few months.

I was 5 weeks after DS2 I think.

Pre-kids I could sit deep to the bumpiest sitting trot. After kids, lost stirrups in trot like kfrogs, although stronger than ever in canter. Wierd.!. Felt scared, like a beginner again. I was also extra careful even walking on foot, crossing the road. I was someones MUM! and therefore had to be careful not to leave an motherless son behind.

My community midwife was seriously horsey herself and told me that horsey ladies have a harder time especially with the first child as the muscles/perimeum are stronger and harder and don't want to stretch. She told me Princess Ann had a dreadful time with her first! Could be true - could be bollocks!

hmm - ride went ok at weekend but forgot essential item - body protector to keep extra large chest in place so trotting was rather painful, canter a bit easier! Really feel pelvis is not as stable as it could be so maybe extra wide highland was not the best choice! Need to find some exercises to improve stability round pelvis, any ideas?

I assume a bike, although it made me smile to think of you asking for advice on how long before you ride your partner again!

2 weeks but I had an easy birth (long labour - 31 hours - but easy birth). Post birth bleeding also stopped after 2 weeks so that wasn't an issue.

Hence, my answer applies to both bike and partner Blush

my baby was born on a thursday and i was riding again by the second sunday! so thats 10 days too! i also had a second degree tear and quite a few stitches!
after many months out of the saddle tho, due to my horse not being 100% trustworthy and my pony being too little to carry me and the bump, i was itching to get back to riding!
am now pregnant again but have managed not to put the weight on this time so am still riding the little one, and intend to carry on until i get too heavy for her again! Am now 18 weeks!
