Jodphur, paddock and mucker boots - what's the blooming difference

As you can tell from title, it is a long time since I bought new boots. Want something that has a good, grippy sole as planning on doing a trek next year that will involve a fair bit of hopping on and off in varied terrain. Don't want to go arse over tit. Suggestions and explanations gratefully received!

Try your local Countrywide. You can try on as many pairs as you like and you won't get the guilt trip of a small saddlers when you don't buy.

I really like the look of those puddle boots Butkin. Might have to go for a pair of those when DD needs a new pair of wellies.

Willow, if you're up for a long boot with great grip and cosy then go for The muck boot Tyne. Wore mine all winter to walk the dogs and were great on snow and ice.

Callisto yes she loves them (Dubarry rather than Ariat as I stupidly typed before).

Trouble is she is now asking for a pair of Dubarry boots "like mummy". We've explained they are for grown ups only!!

Yes, that's the trouble if you have an equine habit. It only ever gets more expensive (at least she has great taste though).

You mean Countryside Farmers stores, Callisto? My nearest shop is 95 miles away! Grin.

Friend is trying to get some jodphur boots from Decathalon for me (13 quid, we think). DD tried them on and they felt alright. Riding lesson cancelled today anyway due to too much wind.

Thanks for the help, all.
