Please may I have current advice on i2i teacher training route and how sustainable it is for a Mum?

I have 16 year old and 13 year old, husband works long hours, no family support.

I love English, books and writing, and for personal values reasons I am keen to work in a universal service. I did English undergrad and Social Work MA - but have been mainly a SAHM for many years.

Is it doable? Thank you

Friends who have undertaken teacher training have found it's a really, really intense first few years while you are qualifying and then an early career teacher with a particularly high workload - you get quicker and more efficient with stuff as you gain experience.

I also think having been a SAHM for many years you might find things quite a struggle with how digital everything has become - have you worked in any job recently? These days in most workplaces there's an expectation everyone is very comfortable using digital platforms like Teams for meetings and using stuff like Excel, share point, and generally quite tech savvy. Depending on your experience and what you've been doing more recently is it worth brushing up on digital skills?

Thank you - I have had a school welfare/attendance role, based in a primary school office for a year (post Covid) - so I have some experience of Teams, CPOMS, SIMS software. I do worry about managing all the pupils and their technology - I imagine it is a challenge in the classroom...!

Do you really want to be tied to school holidays as your children are emerging from the education system?
At those ages I'd be looking at alternative careers as you're not going to be reaping the benefit of school holidays.
