Practical benefits of QTS and PGCE when retraining as a teacher

Hello, hoping for some advice. I am thinking seriously about retraining as secondary social sciences teacher (I have a BSc, MSc, and PhD in Psychology). I see it is possible to end training with QTS or with QTS and a PGCE (I'd be applying for SCITT route). I wondered what the practical benefit of having the PGCE is, beyond it seeming more belt and braces? Grateful for any replies!

As far as I could tell when I was in this position, the only real benefit to doing the pgce is that it is internationally recognised, if you were considering teaching abroad at any point in your career.

I don't have a PGCE (do have QTS through the old GTP route) and if I remember correctly I can't teach in Scotland because if this. May have changed since then!

I did GTP because I had a reasonable amount of experience in schools already but if you don't have this then a PGCE might be a better choice. I applied for and had places on both offered to me at the same time so you could apply for a couple of different routes.
